In Beirut, the situation is really bad.  More than 300 thousand people are homeless.  There is glass everywhere not just in the street but in the houses and stuck in people’s clothes.  There is no money to repair anything.  There is almost no electricity – no lights in the street or in people’s homes.  There is some glass for fixing some windows but it costs and it will run out.  Because the port is so damaged, the ships cannot come in with new supplies even if there was money to pay for it.  People are very angry.  There were crowds who gathered and tried run to the parliament building.  They were stopped by police and tear gas.  People want to stop the corruption. 
Smuggling of people in small boats across the channel is becoming violent with the smugglers threatening with guns and forcing people into tiny boats and rubber dinghies.  One man had paid £3 thousand pounds but when he saw the boat and the rough seas he tried to refuse to get in.  But the smuggler held a gun to his head and said he would shoot him.
UK Government ordered 50 million masks which they now have to scrap as they are not the right fit for health care staff.  This happened as a result of rushing and giving contracts to a company which had no experience of health care.
No progress on the Brexit talks.  Germany says the UK is not realistic and the no-deal is more likely.
