Black Lives Matter protests continue across the world.  Very strong movement in the UK.  Organisers say that the argument is being diverted because of discussion about statues.  Boris now says there will be a special commission to look at discrimination and inequality but there will only have results by December at the earliest.
Shops are opening today.  Some have made a lot of preparation and there will be a limit on how many people can go into the shop.  You won’t be able to try on clothes and anything you touch will need to be taken away for a few days before going back on the shelves or hangers.  Nobody expects the shops to be full.  However, there will be security people at the entrances to make sure there is no trouble from people having to form a queue.
The editor of the Lancet – the medical journal where all the research is published about the virus – says the Government’s approach has been a “catastrophe.”  He says all the expert guidance and predictions were published in the journal in January but it has taken the Government a long time to catch up.  There are complaints also that the governments of Scotland, Wales and Norther Ireland are not involved or consulted in what the English Government is deciding.
