Boris Johnson says that 24 thousand contact-tracers will be able to track 10 thousand new cases every day and will start on June 1st. Labour Party says “why no system in place since 12th March?” No answer from Government. BBC is sceptical that this will operate from 1st June as the virus app is not ready yet. The NHS leaders also worried that the systems will not be running in time.
Health Officials say be careful about buying antibody tests, because you can’t be sure how effective they are. Some shops like Superdrug are offering tests for £69 where you take a blood sample at home and send it off for the test. Although this might be a good thing if it works, the evidence is not clear that this works.
There may be a problem in future as there has been reduction of 70% in referrals to hospital for cancer treatment by the end of April. This means that people who may have serious problems of cancer are not having treatment. If they do not have the operations many people will die. This is also true in A&E where there has been a big reduction in people coming in. It seems the virus is delaying treatment for many serious health problems.
