Labour wants the Government to have a short 2 to 3 weeks shut down
across the whole country to try get the virus under control.  They say that the virus is most reduced if people are kept apart and do not meet up in groups.  They say that the damage to the economy (how much people spend and the profits of companies) is already happening as people are avoiding contact whenever they can and they have changed their shopping habits.  It is better to have the full lockdown to squeeze the virus out altogether.  Labour says that unless we have the national lockdown the effects of the virus will just continue for much longer.
Police will be affected if there is no deal on Brexit.  At the moment, police can get a check on fingerprints of a suspect in 15 minutes because they have access to the EU database.  Without that access, in the past it could take more than a month to get information.  The worry is that criminals and terrorists can travel without being properly checked.  When asked about this in Parliament, Michael Gove said it would all be better outside of the EU.
Waitrose and Co-op are planning to cut prices on a range of basic foods – 15% cut on mince, tea, washing-up liquid, fruit and vegetables.  They think people will have less money to spend and want to be able to compete with Aldi and Lidl.
Sending a parcel?  Now Royal Mail can come to your house to pick up the parcel for you.  It will only cost 72p for each parcel plus of course, the postage cost.  They can collect everyday except Sunday.  They are hoping for an increase in profits from this service.
