Russia warns the West – do not cross red lines

President Putin gave a speech to parliament.  He has not been in public for a long time.  He stays in his residence outside Moscow.  He was talking about covid.  He also said the West was trying to attack Russia.  He says they would not accept this.  They will attack in return.  Reports say 100 thousand troops are on the border with Ukraine.  The police have arrested 100 supporters of Navalny.  He is now in hospital.  Many people are worried he might die.
English clubs pull out of the European Super League
Sunday, they announced a new European Super League for football.  The plan was like the American Football League and teams would be guaranteed their place.  There was a big fuss from fans and clubs.  The Government said they would stop foreign players and refuse travel.  Tuesday, the clubs backed down.  There may be a new plan in future.  PM Boris wants a new review of English football.
State of emergency in Tokyo – only 3 months to the Olympics
There is a big surge in covid cases in Tokyo in Japan. They say it is a fourth wave of the virus.  The emergency means closing shops and making people stay at home.  Not good for Olympics. Brussels may have English as an official language
Amazing.  Brussels city is considering English as an official language.  They already have Dutch, French and German as official languages.  How come the UK can’t even provide BSL interpreters for official business?
