US plans to reduce emissions by 50%

On Thursday, USA had a meeting of countries about the climate crisis.  President Biden says USA will reduce the gas emissions by 50% by 2030.  PM Boris says UK will reduce by nearly 80% by 2035. There were 40 leaders in the online meeting.  This included President Xi of China.  The countries understand the problem and say they will reduce the use of coal and other fuels.  Greta Thunberg says they should stop giving money to oil companies and coal mining. The countries are making promises.  It is not clear that they will keep their promises.
No oxygen in hospitals in Delhi, India
The hospitals have run out of oxygen.  People with Covid cannot receive proper treatment.  Nearly every bed (99%) in intensive care is full.  Thursday there were over 300 thousand new cases.  It is a desperate situation.  In UK, 95% of people over the age of 50, have the vaccine.  Covax was set up to make sure vaccines were shared out.  But only 20 % of the vaccines were given to the poorer countries.  Rich countries have been keeping the vaccines for themselves.  Why does the world not work together to fight against Covid?
Old photographs sold for nearly $2 million
A collection of very old photographs went to an auction in London.  Someone paid nearly $2 million.  The photos were taken in 1844 by William Henry Fox Talbot.  He made a collection in Scotland (see one example).  He invented early methods for making photographs.  DeafStation was wondering what is the oldest photo of deaf people or the oldest deaf photographer?  Photography is visual… were deaf people taking photographs 150 years ago?
