Secondary schools in England have started to open again.  Their priority is year 10 young people who have to sit exams next year.  Although they have been given work during the lockdown, most teachers think that there will be a lot of work to catch up on.  One study says 2 million kids have done very little homework during lockdown.  The only problem is that the schools cannot take all pupils back and for most , it will be only one day of school in English, Maths and Science each week – for bigger schools it may be one day every two weeks
Virus numbers in UK are going down (see the graphs below).  And this is positive.  It supports the plans to finish the lockdown.  Experts are still worried that there could be a second wave.  Surprised that there were no scientists or health experts at the daily briefing on Monday.  It is not clear what the health plan actually is.
Black Lives Matter:  one step forward, two steps back?  Government announces the person to lead the new commission to investigate discrimination – but this is someone who is already an adviser to the Government and who has said that she does not think there is institutional racism.   David Lammy, Labour MP says Boris’s plan is ridiculous – “written on the back of a fag packet.”
Boris had a video meeting with President of the EU and President of the EU Council and asked them to speed up the talks to get a deal by July.  EU says OK but must be the right deal.
