New social distance rules announced. Boris says we can meet in groups up to 6 and that applies indoors and outdoors and for all ages. There are some exceptions – if there are more than 6 people in your house; or at weddings or funerals; where it s at work or in education and team sports. Police will break up any meetings of more people and can give out fines of £100 and then if repeated up to £3 thousand. This starts on Monday. Seems odd – it means you can have a big party this weekend?
Boris says they are going ahead with a Bill in Parliament which changes the Brexit Withdrawal A Treaty which was only signed a few months ago. This breaks international law. They have admitted this. The Scottish Government, the Irish Government and the EU are very angry about this and it could be a big legal challenge. In the USA, the leader of the House of Representatives said that if UK breaks the international law regarding the Brexit treaty and affects Northern Ireland, the UK would not get a trade deal with the USA.
BBC programme “War on Plastics” looked at teabags. Some brands of teabags are completely paper and so they will disappear over time. But there are other brands which are mostly plastic and these also contain the tiny (nano) plastics which do not degrade. This means that even if you throw them into the rubbish they could still be there in a thousand years. It is not clear how much of the plastic gets into the actual tea that you drink but this could be a serious problem. Make sure there is only paper in your teabag.
