Boris will not say when lockdown is over
Maybe lockdown will not end until this summer? Boris says it’s too early to decide now. “We must follow the science advice and numbers of new cases before deciding the next step. Only when it is safe to do so will the government ease the restrictions.”
Northern Ireland has extended their lockdown until March 5th
School laptops may not be safe
Some laptops given out by the Government may have a virus. Hackers could steal sensitive information like personal data and bank details. The Department of Education said it only affected a few of them. They are investigating how the virus got in. Schools will have to work hard to delete the software to make them safe. The Government will provide 300,000 laptops soon. The total will be 1.3 million.
Another 1,290 people die with Covid in UK
In UK 37,892 test positive on Wednesday. The total of deaths is 95,829 – nearly 100,000. The youngest in England to die was only 8 year old. Covid infection rates are not really falling as hoped. In the first two weeks of January the national rate (R number). actually rose to 1.04. The figure must be below 1.0 before we see pandemic shrinking.
