Because there was a shortage of 44 thousand nurses, last year, the Government is giving more student places to colleges to train nurses. That is good news but the students still have to pay their own fees and will have large debts when they finish the course. There are plans for other care workers and also for one thousand new probation officers.
Top story is the virus, but Brexit is the next big topic in the UK. In the EU nobody bothers about it any more. Last week they were discussing trillions of euros for their budget. The money for the UK is tiny in comparison. The EU is not much concerned with what British Government says. It is not in the daily news at all.
There could be problems in the Channel Tunnel as part of it is in France and part in Britain. EU says there has to be the European Court to solve any disputes. UK says no. No agreement would mean that train drivers had to have two licences, and different safety procedures for the French part and the British part. It could upset the running of the Tunnel in every way.
