Problems in Israel are getting worse
The fighting in Israel is getting more serious. There are rockets form Gaza and the Israeli air force is bombing buildings in the Gaz Strip. Now there are reports that rockets have come from Lebanon, in the north. There is also street fighting in many towns where there are Arabs and Israelis. Israeli is sending troops into the towns as well. There is also a possibility that the troops will invade Gaza. This is close to a war.
You can travel to places on the green list but countries may not allow you in
From 17th May, UK Government says people can travel to green list countries . When they return, they do not have to go into quarantine. But countries like Portugal may not allow UK people to go there at all. Portugal has a state of emergency until 30th May. Only business travel and special cases can go from UK to Portugal. It is not a good plan to book your flights just now.
The England waiting list for operations is now 5 million
Over 400 thousand people have been waiting for more than a year to have an operation. The problem has been due to covid. Doctors and nurses had to work on the covid wards. Hospitals did not have enough staff. The operations were cancelled. Doctors say it was a terrible year because of covid; but now it could be worse because so many people need their operations. The problems that people have are getting worse and causing pain. Many people will not survive.

Terrible – Israel refuses to stop bombing the people in Gaza
The Israel prime minister says they will continue until there is complete quiet in the area…. “we will inflict blows on them that they couldn’t ever dream of.” Israel will “use increasing force.” Israel does not want to have a ceasefire. World leaders are very upset and Turkey wants to have action against Israel. This almost like war. The problem started because Israel wanted to take over land and remove the Arabs in Jerusalem. They objected, Israel sent in troops, Arabs in the Gaza Strip fired rockets and Israel started bombing. The Gaza Strip is 25 miles long and average 6 miles wide. There are nearly 2 million Arabs crammed into this small space. So far 48 people have died (14 children) and 300 wounded from the bombing.
USA Republicans vote to remove Cheney from leadership
Liz Cheney is the highest level woman in the Republicans in the House of Representatives in the USA. Her party rejected her – why? Because she spoke out against Donald Trump. She said Biden won the election and Trump is telling lies. Her party got together and said she should not be at the top in their party. It looks like the Republicans just want to believe Trump. The members of the congress are frightened of Trump and they will only accept you, if you agree with all the stories that Trump makes up. This is very serious. Many states which have Republicans in charge are changing the voting rules to make it harder for Black people to vote. The Republicans believe Trump – he says the election was a fraud. Sad to say, the same thing is happening in the UK. PM Boris wants to change the voting rules. It will make it harder for deaf people to vote if they do not have photo ID.
