Boris backs Priti – remember the report last week said she had bullied her staff at the Home Office Department.  She broke the code of behaviour for ministers in Government.  Boris refused to accept the report and she apologised- she did not realise people were upset.  But the head of her department said she was warned about her behaviour many times.  He resigned and is suing the Government.  The person who carried out the investigation and handed in the report – he resigned as well.  Boris had tried to get him to change the report.  The Boris tweeted his pals to make statements to support the “Prittster”.  The usual story – different rules of behaviour for Government people.
UK Government (and USA, Germany, Italy etc) have been buying PPE equipment from China.  Factories in China are using “slaves” to make the kit.  They are women from North Korea who have to work for up to 18 hours a day.  North Korea takes 70% of their wages.  They are told that they go to China to make money for North Korea but they are forced labour – they have no choice.
Worrying reports about cover-up at a camp for asylum seekers in Kent.  This is an old army barracks – not a good place to keep people. There are volunteers coming to the camp with warm clothing or just to give people company – a chat.  But they have to sign an agreement to say they will not tell anyone about the conditions in the camp.  The camp is controlled by a private company.  The reports which leak out say the conditions are cramped and not clean, there is covid and attempts at suicide.
