Christian Malcolm is appointed as the first Black Olympic Head coach.  He won medals at World, European and Commonwealth games. There has been a big review this year which said athletics was in a bad state.  They have now set out a 12-year plan to improve activity at grassroots level leading up to Olympic and Paralympic success.
Medical experts have asked the Health Minister to close the camps in Kent and in Wales which are holding 600 men who are trying for asylum.  They say the camps do not have proper health care and there is no covid protection.  They say the camps are like prisons.
There are more and more complaints from University students that they are paying for teaching which is not happening because of Covid.  The National Union of Students say that the complaints procedure is inadequate.  They say complaints have to be made inside the University first, before there can be an independent review.  It looks likely that Universities will have to refund a lot of student fees.
Continuing worries about the way women are treated in Saudi Arabia.  One woman who has been trying to improve the situation of women has been kept in prison without a trial for nearly 3 years.  Now they are taking her to a special court which is for terrorists – it is not supposed to be used for peaceful human rights cases.  The case against her is that she was speaking to journalists and human rights groups.  Her family cannot get the chance to talk to her.
