News 28th May 2020
Track and Tracing system due to start on Thursday 28th May.  Many thousands of people will be trackers and if the person with virus agrees and tells who they had contact with, will advise those other people (by telephone, text or email) that they have been in contact with someone with the virus that they should stay home with all their family for 14 days.  But this is not compulsory.  Also the virus testing system is still slow but the Government hopes they will soon be able to have results in 24 hours .. but can’t promise when.
Dominic Cummings still in the news because of a lot of anger in public.  He drove to Durham from London with wife and child with suspected virus.  He never apologised and said he did not break the guidelines. Most people do not agree.  Boris says that we have to ignore this now and “move on.” Questions by MPs at Liaison Committee (which Boris is supposed to attend but doesn’t) – he refused to admit Cummings broke the rules and didn’t answer the questions.
The BBC say their Newsnight programme was biased at the start on 26th May, because the presenter said that it was clear that rules had been broken.  But then said the evidence in the programme was correct. (?). Anyway, they suspended the presenter for the Wednesday programme.
In UK, there are 8.4 million people on furlough now.  Cost to the Government (sorry means to us the taxpayer) is over £20 billion.  A lot of money.
