The vaccine developed by Pfizer and BionTech (in Germany) is able to protect 90% of people from getting the virus.
This is a different vaccine which prepares the human body to reject the covid-19 virus – not like the traditional vaccine where your jab includes the virus.  They have tested 43,000 people in six countries.  They say it is safe.  The vaccine is given twice, two weeks apart.  If it is approved, there could be 50 million doses (injections) of the vaccine by the end of the year – UK is supposed to receive 10 million doses.  Hospital staff and care workers will be the first people to get the vaccine.
In Parliament, the House of Lords has rejected the bill proposed by Boris which breaks International Law.  This is the bill which goes against the treaty signed by Boris in January concerning the relation between UK, Ireland and Northern Ireland.  The EU has warned that there is no Brexit deal if the UK goes ahead with breaking the treaty they already signed.  It is also true that US President Elect Joe Biden has said that the USA will not accept a deal with the UK if the UK goes ahead to break the law, because it will affect the peace in Northern Ireland.  Boris has announced he is going ahead anyway.
The Government wants to cut the 14-day self-isolation to 10 days – not approved by the health experts.  The problem is people are not sticking to the 14-day rules and there has been an argument with the health experts over it.  The Government wanted to reduce the period to 7 days but health experts said this would not work as the virus would slip through.  The compromise is 10 days and fast testing.
