The information presented by the health experts yesterday is grim.  There are now more people in hospital with the virus than we had in March (the first wave).  Doctors are able to give better treatment but they are worried that numbers will just increase a lot.  People said it was just young people catching the virus  – yes there are a lot of young people – but there is also a big increase in people over 65 years, catching the virus.  This was predicted by the experts several weeks ago but the Government did not take action.
The map shows that the virus is moving down from the North towards the south.  There is a curve which increases and increases – we see this in the North of England but every few days it is moving down the country.
The Government still wants to have school exams next year. They are giving a little more time by delaying the GCSE and A-levels for 3 weeks to start in June 2021.  Headteachers and Unions say this is not good enough as pupils have missed out on 6 months of learning. The Government claims that the exams are the fairest way to judge the pupils.
You could save money if you reduced the food waste in your house.  Tesco helped carry out a study with 53 families where they encouraged people to plan better so that they cooked the correct amount of food and leftovers could be used or put in the freezer.  The families also got some cooking lessons.    They say that they would save over £800 per year by this approach.
