Boris big speech
says now is the time for the country to move forward with big plans to build new infrastructure.  Government will give £5 billion and try to speed up the plans.  Labour and the Unions say he should be focusing on saving jobs.  And the money does not cover the backlog in repairs in most areas. In Scotland, they say the money is less than one tenth of what Germany is spending.  There will be a new finance statement on 8th July.  Boris refuses to say that there will not have to be tax increases to pay for this.  It looks likely.
Airbus is losing thousands of job across many countries.  There will be 1,700 jobs to go in UK.  These will be in Bristol and in Wales.  Easyjet is closing its base in Stansted, Southend and Newcastle – over one thousand jobs.  Upper Crust says up to 5 thousand jobs to go.  Other companies are now making their plans and most have to reduce staff.
Back to Brussels and no sign of agreement.  There are worries that the financial services in London (which make a lot of profit) will not be able to trade easily with EU countries.  EU say UK has not supplied the information requested, UK claims it has completed its own internal assessment, but the EU has not.  Looks like the whole process is stuck again.
Protests have started in Hong Kong over the china security law which takes away the rights of Hong Kong People.  Police have started arrests.  EU criticises. Big question is what will UK Government do – they have a duty to support Hong Kong people.
