Chancellor (responsible for finance) says there is going to be a huge recession. Probably the worst ever and unemployment might be over 10%. The country will not earn enough from its factories and services, This means the Government has to pay out on benefits to people and does not receive enough taxes. Sometimes, we think it is the Government who loses out but actually it is the ordinary people whose taxes pay for all these troubles.
The argument continues: Academy Trusts for schools are saying that schools should open on June 1st – not for everyone at the same time. Only 5% of teachers say it is safe. Primary schools plan for only one parent to come with a child and to stay outside (2 metres from other parents) while the child is in a queue to go into school (also 2 metres apart). They are to walk or cycle not use public transport – so they may have to use the car. Then the school day starting times will be different to stop too many cars at the same time. In some places, the plan is to block off the road near the school for drop off and pick up time. It will not be compulsory for children to go to school. Expert says decision to open schools is a “political” decision not based on Science.
