Boris passes the buck.  Boris wants to lift all virus restrictions by November so families can have Christmas together.  He says people should go back to work but then says it is up to each company to decide.  At the moment offices are almost deserted and only one in five people are going back to the office.  Health experts are very nervous about the situation and are warning to be very careful because they worry there will be an increase in cases again.
Brexit (yes sorry..) but Brexit will come up more and more over the next months.  Talks continue in Brussels.  No real progress yet.  But now the UK realises that all businesses will have to apply for a licence to operate in the EU.  That also means that they need an office inside the EU or at least a representative in the EU.  This can cost thousands of pounds for every company.  Most business is not prepared for this.  It will be interesting to find out how this will affect the European Union of the Deaf (EUD) because they will not be able represent the UK inside the EU.
We know from our research work in the UK that older deaf people are a bit overweight … actually quite a lot overweight – like two thirds of all adults.  Boris was 17 stone when he got the virus.  The Government is making a new policy to make people eat more healthy food – not what you see in the photo.  There was a sugar tax which is making a difference but Companies like Cadbury’s have a found a way around. They say they are reducing the calories in the bars they sell.  Looks good except … the way they do this is not to put less sugar in the bars … just reduce the size of the bars.  Does that mean the price goes down?  Unlikely, Cadbury’s say it is up to the shops.
