The EU angry over vaccine delay
The EU paid €336 million for Astra Zeneca 300 million doses of vaccine.  Now the company says there may only be 31 million soon.  They want to delay the delivery.  The EU does not accept the excuses of the company.  They say the vaccine is OK between the UK and Belgium, so why not inside the EU.  There may be penalties against the company.
French schools are still open
France has many problems with the virus.  In the first lockdown in March, they closed the schools.  They opened again May, but many children did not go back before the summer.  They lost a lot of time.  In the second lockdown the schools stayed open.  Virus cases dropped.  When there are 3 cases in a class, the whole class is sent home. Only some schools have online learning.  Teachers do not want to have live streaming of lessons.  The rules in school are strict – they have to wear masks in class and inside the school.  They tried to have testing in school but hardly any children turned up for it.  More complication as people now want another lockdown because of new versions of the virus.
UK Government refuses to say when lockdown ends
They say that the pressure on hospital is too much.  They have found 77 cases of the South African version of the virus.  Good news is that over 5 million people have now had the vaccine and that includes 4 people in every 5 people  over the age of 80 years.
Face replaces credit cards
Yes in China in many shops, you only need to show your face in order to buy something.  They have face recognition – no card, no password, no writing, no money –  just stand there and the system recognises you and takes the money out of your account.  Coming to UK soon?  Perhaps.
