Today, the Chancellor will explain what the Government will be spending for the next year on pay, on NHS funding, on what they give to the Governments in Wales, Northern Ireland  and Scotland.  He will also explain about the cost of the virus this year.  Not clear yet if he will have more taxes to pay for it … or just wait for a few years.
Scotland is the first country in the world to make period products free.  This means that local authorities need to provide tampons and sanitary pads for anyone who needs them.  They should be available in schools and colleges.  Younger people are often unable to afford them or are embarrassed about asking for them.  That should change now.
Many shops ask you to pay by card and people have been worried that if you use banknotes, you can catch the virus from them.  Bank of England has carried out research.  Low risk with banknotes.  They found that it is much more likely to catch the virus from breathing in the shops or using trollies or touching items than from passing over the £5, £10 and £20 notes.
Biden who has won the election in USA has a special interest in Ireland because his family came from there in the past.  He is concerned about Boris plans and the Government breaking the international treaty with the EU.  He says there should be no border between Ireland and Northern Ireland as it will affect the peace that was agreed.  If Boris does not have a deal with the EU this will upset the border (the Good Friday Agreement) in Northern Ireland and the USA will not be happy to have a trade deal with UK.
