Remember last week pupils from a boarding school in Nigeria were kidnapped by gunmen. Now the police say that over 300 boys have been released. How this happened is not clear. Police say the boys are in good health. No one is completely sure that ALL the boys have been released.
The situation in the UK with the virus cases and Tiers is in the two pictures where can see how more areas have gone into the red – Tier 3. We can also see that the graph lines have gone up.
The EU is expected to start its programme to give the vaccine out on 27th December. The Medicine Agency has not yet approved the vaccine but it is expected to agree to use it in the next week.
Report of a massive hack of Government departments. Most of the problem is in the USA but it also affects UK and other countries. When you see a message about updating your computer software, most people just press OK. This is how the hackers got in. They first broke into the software from the company that prepares the updates and added some instructions. These instructions waited a few weeks then opened up a “back door” into the computers in the Government departments. The door has been opened for weeks and only now discovered. The damage could be huge. They suspect Russian hackers but Russia denies it.
More weather. In Japan, more than 1,000 people were stuck on the motorway overnight because of snow. This was just outside Tokyo. It started on Thursday but by the evening the jam was 9 miles long. It is gradually being cleared on Friday.
