MPs vote against ordinary people over the dangerous cladding
After Grenfell fire, over 70 people died … safety experts discovered 1.3 million other flats with the dangerous cladding. It can catch fire easily. MPs wanted the Government to pay for removing cladding – then the Government could get the money back from the builders. But the majority of Conservatives voted against this. The people in the flats have to pay thousands of pounds (some up to £75,000). They cannot sell their flats until the work is done. The people are horrified by MPs decision.
Next big worry for Covid is Syria
Syria is in a bad state because of war. Millions of people live in camps and bad conditions. There is limited health care. Nearly 90% of the people are very poor. The UN is very worried that Covid will cause a huge problem. There is very little testing and cases are increasing. There is not enough oxygen. It is a very serious situation.
The computer chip shortage affects all of us
Deafstation mentioned the problem of not enough computer chips. This means some car factories stopped work. But the situation has not improved. Chips are needed in washing machines, in television – all electronic gadgets. So why is there a shortage? Different reasons – the pandemic has messed up the supply of all the smaller components which are needed in the chip factories, some computer firms bought a large amount last year; USA banned a lot of Chinese technology companies. There has also been extreme weather. If you want to buy many goods for the home, you will have to wait and also to pay more.
