Many people lost their jobs in the pandemic and had to apply for benefits.  But 300 thousand were told that they could not have universal credit benefits.  The office said this was because they had £16 thousand in savings or they had a partner who was still working.  But the people said they were not able to pay their bills.
Latest report from employers says that one third expect to make redundancies in the next three months.  Already this week Shell and TSB Bank have cut 10,000 jobs.  Government has a new plan to support after furlough but there some problems – like it is more expensive to keep 2 workers part-time, than to sack one person and keep the other person as a full -time.  Looks like more job losses.
Are you interested in running?  Jogging?  Marathons?  Then you may have seen something of the Nike Alphafly Next% … yes it really is “Next%”.  These are the running shoes used by the marathon champion, Kipchoge.  He will wear them in the London Marathon again this weekend.  They are shoes with special layers so they are soft and they claim to make the runner faster.  Kipchoge completed a trial marathon in under 2 hours.  Some say they are illegal and should not be used.   And they are not ideal for everyone as the balance is different … Anyway they cost over £260 a pair.
