Covid around the world

Austria – Christmas markets closed.  Curfew 8pm to 6pm.
Germany – Christmas markets closed.  Lockdown – only 4 Christmas guests.
France – as many visitors at home as you want – only 10 outside in groups

Italy – you have to stay in your home town on Christmas day.

Greece – you have to text the Government to ask permission to leave your house.  You can go to the hairdressers and bookshops.

Denmark – ten people indoors but you can’t buy alcohol after 10pm.

USA – there are different rules in each of the 50 states.  Masks are required in public in 38 States.

New Zealand – if you come back to New Zealand from another country, you have to quarantine for 14 days in a government centre.  If you just live in New Zealand – no restrictions.

China – where it all started, restaurants open, night clubs booming and all shopping OK.
Big arguments at the US White House on Friday as some (crazy) advisers suggesting there should be martial law … means troops going on to the streets to prevent Biden from becoming President.  Trump still refusing to accept he lost.  At the same time, the Covid crisis gets worse and worse.
Singapore added to UNESCO Cultural Heritage list – this is recognition for the food culture.  Rich and poor people come  to eat in the large dining halls.  The food is cheap and fast… and delicious.  UNESCO also recognises other culture. – yoga in India, tango in Argentina.  Why not ask UNESCO to recognise sign language in deaf culture?
