Protests continue in different parts of the world over racism and George Floyd death.  But in the USA there have been incidents where men with guns have threatened the marchers and in one case, a protester was shot.  These are far-right white people.  In one case, a car was driven into the crowd and in another a lorry.  Trump made things worse by claiming that the 75 year-old man pushed over by police (ending up in hospital) was trying black out police radios.  No evidence on this and almost impossible, say IT people.
Big increases in virus cases in American States where they opened up restaurants and allowed people to go to the beach and to meet up.  Health officials had warned against easing the lockdown but Trump urged them to ignore this and ordinary people protested in order to “Be free of lockdown.”  The rise in cases comes from the Memorial Day long weekend when people went to parks and the beach and did not have social distancing.
Reports from India are not good.  16 million people live in New Delhi.  They started to go back after lockdown.  Now there is a big increase in cases – they say over 500 thousand by July.  They can only test about 10% of the severe cases.  Even if you can get a test, the centres have no social distancing and one person says, “if you did not have the virus when going for the test, you would catch at the test centre.”   Senior people working for the Government have got the virus.  They will now use hotels and community centres to treat people with the virus.   They also worry about the vast area of small villages across the country where the health care is very limited.  Very serious.
