As well as the fires in California there are also huge fires in Siberia in Russia, near the Arctic Circle.  This should be really cold and with no chance of fires but global warming removed the snow and ice and the ground is very dry.  Experts now say the fires are producing a huge amount of greenhouse gas (which causes the global warming). We all think this is far away from us in the UK but the gases go into the air and they change the temperatures for all of us.
It was explained yesterday in the news that the Americans were not happy with Boris plan to break the withdrawal treaty.  Now the UK Government says they won’t use the new law until December and then Parliament can vote.  The Americans say that just means that UK will break international law in December.  Boris may not get any support from the USA.
Germany is trying to take the lead to accept more refugees from the Greek camps – up to 5,000.  But other European countries are still refusing to take their share.  There are reports that Greek ships are forcing the refugees in their boats away from Greece which is against international laws.  There is still no agreed policy within the EU and the refugees  are left in terrible conditions in camps.
One football team (Ripdorf) in Germany lost 37 – 0 last week.  It was because of social distancing (they could not tackle the other team) and also because they only had 7 players.  The other team had played against someone who had the virus and the other team had not had 2 weeks isolation.  Ripdorf wanted to cancel the game but the football league refused.  So Ripdorf put out only 7 of their second team and they just kept distance from the other team.  The other team did not care and just kept scoring.
