It is in Brazil but it is affecting all of us.  The Amazon rain forests are being cut down fast…. more because of the President Bolsonaro since 2019 who has encouraged the the farming and mining activities in the world’s largest rainforest.  There are more than three million species of plants and animals, and one million native people.  They are affected directly because of the loss of the trees.  In the rest of the world, we are suffering because the Amazon is very important to the climate and it captures and stores up a lot of the greenhouse gas.
Trump is still ignoring the work he is supposed to be doing as President.  He has time to make calls to his favourite TV programme and then tells lies about how he won the election and then he was robbed and the election is a fraud.  Now most of the States which he was complaining about have said that Biden has won and Trump’s legal complaints have been rejected.  In the meantime, Biden is trying to organise plans to deal with the virus but he cannot have the power until January.  Cases are just increasing everywhere and California has a big surge.  They say in California that they will run out of beds in hospital before Christmas at this rate.
In other countries there are increasing problems.  Turkey has curfews.  In Spain where it has been bad, people are ignoring the warnings from the Government to behave sensibly and to avoid crowds.  On the weekend there were large crowds in the streets – due to Black Friday, Christmas shopping, Christmas lights going on – happened in Madrid, Barcelona and other big cities.
