We thought Ireland was almost free of the virus but now they say there are new cases coming from people who have travelled abroad.  The Government is now nervous about the borders being opened up.
Travel and lockdown.  Apart from the issue recently about Cummings Boris’s adviser, who broke lockdown to go off to the north of England.  It now comes out that Boris’s father went off to Greece during the lockdown.  He says it was for important business.  The usual – one rule for them and another for the rest of people.
At least 160 people were killed after a landslide and flood at a Jade mine in Myanmar (Burma).  People often searched in rubble for the precious stones.  There was a warning issued that the area was becoming unstable due to heavy rain and so some people stayed away.  Others took the risk.
Predictions are clear that countries with high fees for international students will see a big drop in numbers.  Some students were stranded in the UK and USA and others who got back home complained that lectures and online support was poor.  There is a lot of doubt from the students if it is worth to come back or to start their studies where it is so expensive – maybe £20 thousand pounds a year in the UK.
Bad conditions in the meat processing factories in Germany where there has been new outbreaks.  The workers from Romania, Poland, Bulgaria are not treated well and sent home if sick.  Their wages are cut.  Some say it is like slavery and major reforms are needed.
