World News 5th May.. G7 countries meet to talk about China, Myanmar and Russia
G7 are major economic countries – USA, UK, Canada, France Italy and Japan .. and the EU. The senior officials are meeting in London. They are discussing how to deal with China and the oppression of Uighur people, the military take over in Myanmar and the actions of Russia. They want to work together to improve the situation of the people in these countries.
OK for Pfizer – they will make $26 billion from the vaccine
Some people always make money when there is a disaster. UK government gives out contracts to friends which makes them rich. But the really big money is from the drugs. Pfizer say they will make $26 billion from selling the vaccine. It is 8 times more expensive than the Astra Zeneca.
Research study – air pollution is bad for men over 70 years
They looked at 1,000 men in USA. If there was a lot of air pollution, their abilities to think and solve problems was reduced.
Train crashes on to the street – bridge collapsed in Mexico
The railway line is only 10 years old. As the train was passing over a crossroads, the bridge collapsed. At least 24 people died and many were injured. They are still searching for injured people.
Belgian farmer in trouble for making Belgium bigger
Odd story. A farmer had a marker stone on his land. It was awkward for his tractor. He decided to move the stone. He dug it up and moved it back a bit. Trouble is the stone was 200 years old. It was there to show the border between France and Belgium. He moved the stone and Belgium became a bigger country.
