Virus update in Europe:
In Austria you have to wear a mask in shops and public transport. Bars have to close by 1am.
In Belgium shops shut by 10pm, cafes 11pm and restaurants at 1am (with maximum 10 people at a table inside).
Czech Republic in a state of emergency. Masks everywhere indoors. Bars and restaurants closed. Maximum 6 people indoors and outdoors.
Denmark schools open but only teach groups of 12 children. Bars and restaurants close by 10pm.
In France, there are curfews (closed down from 9pm to 6am) in 8 cities. Must wear masks outdoors in shops and all public spaces.
In Germany, where there are 35 cases per 100 thousand people (that would include most of the UK) masks are required in public.
In Ireland, you have to wear masks on public transport, in shops theatres, beauty salons. No visits to homes or gardens. Outdoors only 6 people from 2 homes allowed. Bars and restaurants only do takeaways.
In the Netherlands and Italy, there are similar severe restrictions and masks must be worn.
In Spain, there is lockdown in Madrid – people are not allowed in or out of the area. The situation over Europe is really bad at the moment.
We learned about terrible fires in California and Oregon. But here is a huge wildfire in Colorado with smoke clouds spreading over a huge area. The biggest they have ever seen.
