World News 8th July
US Government gave out large amount of money called Paycheck Protection Plan but it now seems that Trump and his family received some of this and friends of Trump and some congressmen received large amounts of money in loans.  It is also true that over $3 billion dollars have been given to companies that are in oil and gas and coal mines.  These are thousands of companies in USA which work in fossil fuels.  The world is trying to reduce this activity to avoid the global warming.

The leader of Hong Kong says that they will ‘vigorously implement’ the new law to stop people protesting.  They are taking away books from libraries and shops which they say are not acceptable and people are arrested for any protests.  One group held up blank sheets of paper – no message written against the Government – just blank – they were arrested.  School children are now banned  from singing the “Glory to Hong Kong” song which was used in the protests.
Russia says it will have sanctions on British after the UK Government banned 25 Russians yesterday.  Russia says Britain was unfriendly and so they will retaliate.
Problems in the environment:  there is pink snow in the Alps.  It looks very nice but is bad news.  It is caused by a tiny plant (algae).  This only in Greenland but now in Italy. Scientists say it is because of climate change and global warming.  In Hawaii, they found that seaweed is attacking the coral reefs.  The seaweed spreads by rolling across the ocean floor and then starts to cover the reef.  All the coral underneath it, dies.  Greta Thunberg is now on school strike week 98.  She says the climate change does not go on holiday.
