The final winner of the US election is not decided as there are still votes arriving through the post. These have to be counted for several days after the voting day. While this counting continues and arguments are going on in the US election, yesterday there were over 100 thousand new cases of the virus. There are over 50 thousand people in hospital. Trump claimed the virus would disappear on November the 4th – actually, the cases are increasing and the health experts are more and more worried. They want people to follow the rules to wear masks and keep distance. They also say all students should get tested before they go home to their families for the Thanksgiving holiday (26th November).
Virus numbers still increasing in Europe – France, Italy and UK have the most new cases but Andorra, Czech Republic and Belgium have highest numbers for their numbers of people.
The storm which has done a lot of damage to Central America countries is moving slowly back out and will reach Cuba and then the USA, probably Florida by Monday. It was a category 4 hurricane (the worst is category 5) and it caused a huge amount of damage and there is still more rain and flooding.
You know Nanaia Mahuta? Probably not, but she is the new foreign minister of New Zealand. So? Well, first of all she is the first Maori to be so high up in Government. But second, she has traditional Maori tattoos on her face. These are lip and chin markings. These are very important for cultural reasons as they link the person to their family history. All the tattoos are different.
