Nicolas Sarkozy was President of France.  Now he has to go jail because he tried to bribe a magistrate.  The court says he is guilty of corruption and gave him three years in jail.  He is the first ex- French president to go to jail.He will make an appeal. He will be free during that process – it could take years.
Police arrested four people at the offices of Barcelona FC.  Some reports say it includes the former President of the club.  The police are investigating finances at the club.  Other reports say it is because the club tried to use social media to attack their own players.  All a bit of a mystery.  No suggestion that Messi is involved.
Ex-President Trump gave a speech to the conservative conference in Florida.  His speech was full of lies.  This is hard to understand because the audience believes what he says.  He says dead people voted in the election.  He says that there were more votes than people.  He says the Supreme Court (the highest court) is corrupt because they did not allow him to be the winner of the election.  He says he won.  None of these are true.  The problem is that he is also attacking people in his own party – the senators who voted against him.  He wants to be in power so he can choose which people will be in the Republican party.  This is very hard to understand from outside the USA.  It is very dangerous for the democracy of the people in the USA.
