Bad news for Poland universities – the Government takes over.
Most universities in Poland are public.  But they have freedom to carry out work and research.  Now the PM Orban has decided that new committees will take over – they will run the universities.  Staff believe the aim is to take away the money the university has from the EU and to make the universities follow what the Government says.  They will not be free.  PM Orban wants to control everything.  He has control over the legal systems, the media and now education.    The EU criticises what is happening in Poland.
US Census increase in people – but more in some States The census in USA was in 2020.  Results show they have 333 million people.  People have moved from the north to towards the south.  That changes who can vote in elections.  It also means that New York and California will lose seats in Congress.  Other states like Texas will gain seats.    This will affect the Government in future.
Family re-union of refugees blocked by UK after Brexit
Many people are stuck in camps in Greece and other countries in the EU.  They are refugees from torture.  Many of these people have relatives who live in the UK.  The UK Government gave them the right to come to the UK … it is the family reunion law.  At least 80 families were given the right.  But because of Brexit, the UK says the family reunion law does not apply now.  They refuse to let the people travel and they ignore the requests from lawyers and families.  When Covid arrived flights were cancelled.  Now Britain says 6 months have passed and they will not let them come.  They say it is the fault of the EU country.  This is a very unhappy situation.
