Major news from the New York Times.  They have information on Trump’s taxes.  Remember he refuses to let people see his tax return.  The report says he pays almost no tax in the USA.  He has complicated systems to avoid tax and puts expenses against his income.  So he claimed $70 thousand dollars for looking after his hair.  He says his businesses make a loss but he pays his family.  This will come up in the television debate on Tuesday and in more news.
USA – more problems.  Trump claims that the election is going to be a fraud because of postal ballots.  The experts say this is crazy.  Trump may not accept the result of the election if Biden wins.  The protests over the killing of Black people are getting bigger.  But white people with guns have turned up to “defend buildings.”  Trump has encouraged them.  Now some Black groups have started to set up their own defence with guns.  In fact, there has been increase in people buying guns in recent months – just for security.  Not a good situation.
France is suffering again from the virus but also from dispute between Paris (and the Government) and Marseilles, the second largest city.  Virus cases per day in France are over 15 thousand (although less deaths than the UK) and so the Government told the bars and restaurants to close at 10pm. In Marseilles they say this was interference in people’s lives.  So there were street protests by bar owners who say they will have to close down.  The Government has backed down a little. But they are worried that the second wave is happening and that it has reached care homes.
