Samoa’s first female Prime Minister is locked out of the Parliament

You can guess … there was an election in Samoa in the Pacific Ocean. It was close and the number of seats made it a draw. But an independent member, decided to vote for Fiame Naomi Mata’afa  so she was the winner. The old PM refused to go. He locked the doors of the parliament building and refused to let in her party. They held the oath of office in the garden. The old PM says the election was wrong and she was illegal. This all seems familiar? Yes think of Mr Trump in USA.
Covid update
In Toronto in Canada, the restaurants are closed for 360 days – the world’s longest time. The closure will continue until 2nd June. There are 3 million people in Toronto – they are desperate to go out for a meal. In Argentina there is a new lockdown. The cases have been over 35,000 every day in the last week. In Latin America, there are now over 1 million deaths from Covid. Most are in Brazil and Mexico. Cases in India started to go down but they are rising again. Figures are only estimates – over 400 thousand cases per day. In UK, Covid is not finished – there were over 2,000 cases on Sunday – a school in Middlesbrough had to close down. Travel into Glasgow was not allowed but now there is a big surge in Clackmannanshire (it is between Stirling and Fife). The Indian Covid is now in many parts of the UK – a surge in London – Croydon, Hounslow and Hillingdon.
New way to get married in India – in the air
A couple invited 160 friends and family on to a plane and they got married while it was flying. They wanted to avoid the lockdown in India. That may not be a good idea as no one was wearing masks or having social distance. Oh dear.
