There is now a shortage of PPE in the world. They say it is partly because of the big demand in the USA.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that the pandemic is not nearly at an end … over 10 million cases and still increasing everyday.
Many countries are upset by the way in which China has been treating the Uigher minority who live in the west of the country. They have built very large camps which they say are for re-education but they are secret and no one can film there. Reports say over one million people are being detained and forced to give up their Muslim identity. China says they are trying to prevent terrorism. Now women are being sterilised so that they cannot have children. China denies everything.
More on China: the new law has been passed which gives China the power to stop any protests in Hong Kong. People of Hong Kong were not consulted. Why does this matter? The new arrangements take away many freedoms that people have. Because Hong Kong was a Crown Colony of UK (UK set up the education and law), China agreed to allow it to continue from China when UK handed it back to Chinese Government. Now they have broken the agreement. Many Hong Kong people have UK passports.
There are major floods in North East India affecting one million people. The floods come from the monsoon rains which fall every year but still people die and over 29 thousand have to leave their homes.
