In Belgium they are asking people to eat more chips! There is a huge mountain of potatoes because the restaurants and hotels are all closed and they can’t send them to the UK – we buy a huge amount of frozen chips. See the picture below. You can buy a 100kg of potatoes for 1 euro. But you can’t get that many in your shopping bag!
France does not allow entry by EU nationals until June 15. Anyone for outside the EU is not allowed at all. However, they are still opening restaurants.
Greece is opening the Acropolis in Athens and other ancient sites on May 18th and then all restaurants on June 1st.
Churches in Italy are opening on May 18th but must have special cleaning and then social distancing.
Pakistan is allowing people to go back to work even though the deaths are increasing. They say people need the money in order to live.
It feels like no Government in the world was really prepared for the virus and they have not been able to work together.
