The Pope has refused to meet with the US Secretary of  State, Pompeo.  It appeared that Pompeo wanted to use the visit to help with Trump’s election by making statements about China and the Catholic Church.
Widespread criticism of the Trump versus Biden TV debate.  They were not respecting the rules and Trump constantly interrupted.  The language used was often childish.  They insulted each other.  Many viewers said Trump was to blame.  No one really won in the debate although Fox News praised Trump.  Newspapers around the World said it was a shambles.  The organisation which arranges the debate is making new rules and procedures to stop this mess for 2 more debates.  After the debate, there was a big increase in donations to the Biden campaign.
Because of a big rise in cases in Madrid, the Government has ordered a lockdown.  People are not allowed to leave or come into Madrid.  A maximum of 6 people can meet.  Some groups disagree with this and want to challenge the Government.  In Latin America, 34 million jobs have been lost because of the virus.  UK virus cases up by 7,000 yesterday – some research says the spread is slowing down.
In Germany, it is often true that if you rent a flat our house you have to open the windows twice a day to avoid bad smells and mould – even in winter.  Now the Government is encouraging all people to open windows as this is another defence against the virus.
