There are a lot of numbers in this story!  Joe Biden won the US election for President. He had the highest number of people votes in history – over 74 million and still more to come in.  In America you have to win the States … and each State has a different number of votes (called electoral college) because of the size of the State.  So if you win California, you get 55 State votes but in Florida you get 29.  Then they add up all the State votes and whoever, gets 270 is the winner.
Trump got 70 million people votes.  He is not happy.  He says he won and that the others stole the election.  He is refusing to accept that he lost.  Instead he is trying to sue the different States because the election was a fraud.  Biden supporters are celebrating but Trump supporters say that many votes were illegal.
America is really divided.  When we break it down:
More men voted for Trump; more women voted for Biden
More white people voted for Trump (57%)
More Black people voted for Biden (87%);  More Hispanic and Asian voted for Biden.
Only 14% of people who voted for Trump were worried about the virus (230 thousand dead) but 82% of Biden voters were worried
Only 8% of Trump voters thought about racial inequality (Black Lives Matter) but 91% of Biden supporters thought about it
Now Trump refuses to accept the result.  He says he will fight in the courts.  Many advisers say he should quit.
Biden won .. but there are still problems.
The Biden team do not like Boris- why?  Because Brexit is a bad idea, because Boris is threatening the Irish border.  They say that the way Britain treats immigrants is wrong.  They were very upset when the UK Foreign Secretary refused to accept people taking the knee to support Black Lives Matter.  Boris has said bad things about Obama and Biden’s team think British people are OK but not Boris and not his Government.
