It is more of the same in the USA. Trump denies the virus and holds large rallies. Interviews with people at the rallies say he is doing a great job. He says the virus is over. The truth is that in most States the numbers are increasing and there are more deaths. Biden says Trump is spreading the virus and there is an audio recording earlier in the year which says that Trump was ignoring what doctors were telling him. He wants to stop the restrictions. Doctors say his behaviour is costing lives.
Some numbers from the USA: over 71 million people have already voted in the election (voting day is not until 3rd November). Nearly 17 million guns have been sold this year so far … more than any other full year on record. People are scared of violence. They were buying mostly handguns but there are rifles sold as well. At least 950 incidents of police brutality have been recorded – mainly at Black Lives Matters protests. Nearly 9 million cases of virus and 228 thousand people have died.
The EU will pay for the transfer of covid patients across countries. This will be to prevent some hospitals becoming full.
Amazon just gets bigger and bigger. From July to September they made $96 billion. Obvious …. people are staying at home and ordering online. They also make a lot of money from their web services where they host data for many businesses. They say they are offering more pay to workers.
