Navalny appears on video link – extremely thin
The leader of the opposition in Russia was on videolink from the prison.  He was on hunger strike.  This has stopped but on screen he was very, very thin.  They had shaved his head.  He was making an appeal about one of the charges against him.  He was happy to see his wife.  He made a speech and said, Putin was a “king with no clothes” (it means he is not a real king) and he was robbing the people.  The court ignored him.  The people in his offices in different cities have all left because the police were trying to arrest them.  The Government called them extremist.
World Health Organisation warns Europe – do not open up too soon
World Health Organisation thinks there could be a new wave of Covid, like in India but in Europe if all restrictions are lifted.  People want to have holidays.  They want to travel again.  But there are new versions of Covid and these versions may spread easily.  Not enough people have the vaccine in Europe. 
Latest – Munich Octoberfest (=lots of beer) moves to Dubai
Every year there is a huge festival in Munich in Germany – the Octoberfest.  People eat pretzels, sausages and men wear lederhosen (leather short trousers) and women wear dirndls (traditional long dresses).  The plan for Dubai is to have 32 beer tents, a giant ferris wheel, the world’s longest bar and a 60-metre high maypole.   Alcohol is not allowed in Dubai – so visitors will have to travel around in buses and not go into the town while drunk.  The Munich festival may still happen – it depends on Covid.  Dubai does not have a covid problem just now.
