The Virus

11th May
Now over 4 million people have contracted the virus in the world.  There are a quarter of a million deaths.  In the UK, 32 thousand deaths.
There is a big worry that there can be a “second wave” of virus since there have been more cases in China and also South Korea, after many people went to night clubs, when they thought it was safe.  China thinks there is a big problem in North Korea but information is hard to get.
In UK, well known people have signed a petition to have a public inquiry into why so many deaths in Black and Asian communities.  Labour Party will have its own inquiry.
There are many research studies with cooperation across countries.  The studies are looking at how the virus has been growing and also searching for a cure or at least, some way to make the effects less.  They are trying to combine different drugs.  But there is no solution yet. The message is still the same, that the virus has a coating, which can be broken down if you wash with soap and water.  Instruction is the same, keep washing your hands properly with soap for 20 seconds.
