Government say that they are increasing funding to virus research in Oxford and London. They are hoping for a breakthrough by September and the minister says drugs company will make available 30 million vaccines if the tests are successful.
The vaccine called Chaddox one, began on 24 April to try to protect healthy people from the virus.
The researchers have over one thousand participants in different places. The volunteers get a real dose of the vaccine or a different vaccine. The volunteers are 18 to 55 years and need to be in good health.
Only 170 deaths reported on Sunday. UK total is 34,636. This is the highest in Europe.
Head of Heathrow says there will be a health passport for travellers to say that the person does not have the virus. They will also use thermal imaging scanning at Heathrow’s Terminal two from next week to screen people coming into the country. See the picture below.
Numbers of passengers have dropped from 250 thousand per day to only 5 thousand.
